ACComPLISHED CLUBS

Student-Led Health Advocacy. Real-World Impact.
ACComPLISHED Clubs are student-led health advocacy clubs that empower high school students to learn about public health, neuroscience, and disease prevention while creating real, community-based interventions.

Through monthly themes, guided curriculum, and hands-on projects, students learn how to translate health education into meaningful action — whether that’s improving sleep habits, reducing stress, promoting brain health, or addressing health disparities in their communities.

What Students Do in ACComPLISHED Clubs

Students in ACComPLISHED Clubs:
  • Learn evidence-based health and neuroscience concepts through accessible free lessons
  • Design and implement monthly health interventions at their schools or in their communities
  • Collect reflection and survey data to evaluate impact
  • Develop leadership, research, and communication skills
  • Build a capstone portfolio of their work over the school year
At the end of the year, students have the opportunity to present their work in a poster-style presentation, showcasing everything they’ve learned and implemented.

Monthly Health Themes
Each month, ACComPLISHED introduces a new health theme (e.g., blood pressure, stress, nutrition & exercise).
Clubs:
  • Learn the science behind the theme
  • Connect it to their chosen Main Idea (their core health focus for the year)
  • Design an intervention that educates peers and promotes healthier behaviors
This structure allows students to go deep in one area while still gaining broad public health exposure.

Who Can Join
ACComPLISHED Clubs are open to:
  • High school students
  • Students interested in health, medicine, neuroscience, public health, or advocacy
  • Students who want to make a tangible impact at their school, regardless of prior experience
No background in science or research is required — curiosity and commitment are enough.

Support & Resources
Clubs receive:
  • Monthly curriculum and intervention guides
  • Access to the ACComPLISHED Canvas platform and Discord community
  • Mentorship and feedback from program leadership
  • Opportunities to be recognized for outstanding work

Student Impact
ACComPLISHED students have:
  • Led health education campaigns in their schools
  • Created sleep and stress interventions for peers
  • Conducted surveys and reflections to measure behavioral change
  • Presented research and projects at conferences and showcases

February: Stress Intervention

Picture

Lucia Mastroianni

"Over 95% of adolescents ages 13-17 use some form of social media. After researching its effects on the brain and its correlation with anxiety disorders and other mental health conditions, I became passionate about spreading this knowledge with young minds and creating a meaningful impact. ACComPLISHED Clubs has supported me throughout my intervention, teaching me about the various processes in the brain and guiding my research on the effects of social media. They have also provided guidance in designing and expanding my project, allowing me to make a lasting difference."
Focused on adolescent mental health and digital well-being, Lucia Mastroianni designed and led an interactive program to help middle school students better understand how social media affects the brain and stress. Her intervention combined short presentations with engaging workshops and activities, including pre- and post-Kahoot quizzes to track learning.

Through her initial trial, Lucia saw encouraging results—100% of participants reported increased knowledge and awareness, and all showed improvement in post-test scores. Notably, 50% reported changes in their social media habits within just five days, reflecting the real impact of her work.

Building on this, Lucia is set to expand her initiative by presenting to multiple middle school classes at the Ethical Culture Fieldston School in New York City, reaching around 60 students this semester, with plans to grow the program further.
Her work highlights the importance of helping students build healthier relationships with social media through awareness, education, and practical strategies.

JANUARY: SLEEP Intervention

Vivien Wittstruck

"I am passionate about empowering teens through education to promote health, well-being, and access to community health resources. The ACComPLISHED Club has supported me with invaluable knowledge and ideas of how I can help those in my community. Many teens and their parents struggle to get a good night's rest, so I hoped to introduce strategies that could help them improve their sleep. By implementing my sleep intervention, I hoped to get people engaged in a fun and helpful way."
Passionate about empowering teens through education, Vivien designed and implemented a 7-Day Sleep Challenge to promote healthier sleep habits among adolescents. Each day introduced a practical strategy—such as limiting screen time an hour before bed—to help participants understand how sleep directly impacts physical health, mental well-being, and academic performance.

Beyond the intervention, Vivien expanded her impact by publishing an article in her local newspaper titled:
"Better sleep for teens: why it matters and how to improve it to be more alert"

Her work highlights the importance of youth health education and evidence-based community outreach.
