RESEARCH CONFERENCEThe International Young Researchers' Conference (IYRC) is an interdisciplinary platform that empowers high school students to present and publish their original research across various fields, including STEM, humanities, and social sciences. Since its inception, the IYRC has successfully organized nine conferences, attracting young researchers from 25 countries and accepting over 460 papers. The upcoming IYRC Fall 2024 conference, scheduled for December 7, 2024, at Columbia University, marks the 10th conference milestone. Participants have the opportunity to present their work to an international audience, receive constructive feedback, and publish their research in the IYRC Journal. This program fosters collaboration, academic growth, and global connections among aspiring young researchers.

SUMMER PROGRAMThe Medicine and Research Summer Program, hosted by Columbia University’s Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons (VP&S) Global Health Organization, is a 10-week immersive virtual program for high school students worldwide. Students gain hands-on experience in medicine and research through patient history-taking, ethical discussions, narrative medicine, and anatomy studies. The program also equips students with essential research skills, including data analysis and manuscript writing. Additionally, students can earn certification as Community Health Literacy Workers for stroke, dementia, and health insurance through Columbia’s Neurology Department.

ACComPLISHEDThe ACComPLISHED program (Adolescents Caring for COMmunity by Promoting Literacy on Insurance, Stroke, Health Education, Emergencies, and Dementia) is a hybrid summer initiative for students passionate about health and community impact, hosted by the IYRC and the Columbia Neurology Department. Combining clinical knowledge, simulated patient encounters, and skills workshops, participants learn from physicians and allied health professionals at Columbia University and New York Presbyterian. Students complete weekly reflections, engage in community teaching as health education liaisons, and implement mentored capstone interventions. The program concludes with students presenting their projects at a symposium at Columbia VP&S, offering a unique blend of mentorship, education, and real-world application.

TOKYO EXPLORETokyo Explore is a unique opportunity for any accepted IYRC students to explore in the vibrant city of Tokyo. This exclusive program offers an unforgettable experience, allowing participants to explore Tokyo alongside like-minded peers, IYRC members, and students from prestigious universities like Columbia and Stanford. With an English-speaking group, you'll discover the beauty and culture of Tokyo while creating lasting memories.

WINTER PROGRAMThe IYRC STEM Winter Program, held in collaboration with Stanford University, is a virtual experience running from November to January. This program explores subjects like Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Computer Science, and Aerospace, guided by Stanford researchers and students. Participants engage in both live sessions and self-paced learning, gain research skills, and connect with peers globally. With over 50 hours of office hours and insightful talks, the program equips students with a deeper understanding of STEM and its transformative role in today’s world.
