IYRC has an annual Tokyo Explore Program, Medicine and Research Summer Program, STEM Winter Program, ACComPLISHED Community Health Program, as well as 2 conferences and programming throughout the year. This application is role of Public Relations Coordinator.
The Public Relations Coordinator plays a pivotal role in shaping the public perception of the IYRC programs. This position combines strategic communication skills, media relations expertise, and a passion for promoting the program's mission. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of public relations principles, experience in media outreach, and a commitment to advocating for youth education and community health.

- Post on social media (ex. instagram posts/reels)
- Create blog posts and university press articles
- Maintain relationships with the families and create monthly newsletters.
- Create monthly newsletters for email lists
- Attend in person days and take pictures / videos / interviews
- Contact schools
- Recruit participants for programs
Description
- Public Relations Coordinators develop a comprehensive media relations strategy that aligns with the program's overall communication goals and objectives. Identify and prioritize key media outlets for coverage.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with families, media, and community through regular communication and engagement.
- Write and distribute compelling media advisories and feature articles to generate interest.
- Respond promptly and effectively to media inquiries.
- Monitor media coverage and analyze its impact on the program's reputation and visibility.
- Implement communication plans to manage negative publicity
- Create engaging content, such as articles, blog posts, social media posts, infographics, and videos, that resonate with the program's target audiences.
- Collaborate with program staff and beneficiaries to identify compelling human-interest stories that highlight the impact of the program.
- Ensure that all content is accurate, well-written, and aligned with the program's brand and messaging.
- Distribute content through the program's website, social media channels, and other online platforms.
- Monitor and analyze content performance to identify trends and adjust strategies.
- plan and execute public events, open houses, workshops, and conferences to raise awareness of the program and engage with stakeholders.
- Collaborate with program staff and external partners to develop event concepts, secure venues, and coordinate logistics.
- Develop and implement marketing and promotional materials for events to attract participants and sponsors.
- Evaluate the success of events and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
- Foster a positive and engaging atmosphere at events to enhance the program's reputation.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive measurement and evaluation plan to track the effectiveness of public relations efforts.
- Regularly report on public relations activities and outcomes to program leadership and stakeholders.
- Use data-driven insights to refine and enhance public relations strategies.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and recommend adjustments to the public relations plan.
Qualifications:
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft compelling content for a variety of audiences.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with media professionals and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in social media management and digital marketing tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Compensation:
- Estimated: $5,000 per year at ~5h/ week
- (Estimation based on standard engagement. Actual pay may be lower or higher based on performance. Transparent breakdown of compensation provided).

- $5/ instagram post
- $15/ blog post
- $20/ instagram reel or youtube short
- $50/ university press article
- $100 on in-person days (~5h)
- $10/hour recruiting (~3h/ week)
- Recruiting milestones within programs:
- +$500 for 100 accepted and registered students
- +$1000 for 200 accepted and registered students
- +$2000 for 300 accepted and registered students
- +$3000 for 400 accepted and registered students
- +$4000 for 500 accepted and registered students
- (amount stacks: example if 500 students registered for program, would get $10,500)
- (in 2024, we had ~1000 participants across our programs).
- $2000 stipend for annual Japan trip
